VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Position 1 - Information Desk & Box Office
Job Description
- Receiving guests and visitors; answering questions and inquiries
- Managing switchboard phone and coordinating couriers
- Managing museum retail operations: selling DX publications and tickets for current exhibits and lectures
- Opening and/or closing information desk
- Administrative support (computer skills)
- Full training provided

Qualifications
- Excellent communication/organization skills
- Experience in handling money and switchboard phone
- Ability to multi-task, work individually and work well under pressure
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Word and Excel (Macintosh platform, FileMaker Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Maromedia Dreamweaver & Ticketmaker an asset, but not required)

Position 2 - Community Volunteer
Job Description
This position is ideal for those who cannot donate their time on a weekly basis, but would like to be involved in the exciting DX community. Community Volunteers can pick and choose the activities in which he/she would like to participate, as they arise. Opportunities include but are not limited to:
- Special Events (i.e. Exhibit openings, lectures, workshops, receptions etc.)
- Responsibilities include: greeting and registering guests, selling tickets etc.
- Administration (i.e. Mass mailings, preparing member packages, preparing for events etc.)
- Leading guided tours

Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfort in meeting/greeting the public in person
- Polished customer service skills

Shifts
Opportunities arise on an as-needed basis, but Community Volunteers are expected to sign up for a minimum of 1 event per month.

Position 3 - Administration
Job Description
Providing administrative support to staff on a variety of projects, including but not limited to:
- Updating/building contact lists for the database, writing & completing research projects
- Filing, mailing, making phone calls etc.
- Writing or simple research

Qualifications
- Excellent writing & communication skills
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Word and Excel a must (Macintosh platform, FileMaker Pro an asset, but not required)
- Ability to work independently is a must
- Basic administrative skills
