Dear Members and Friends......
Welcome to the new DX EXPRESS! Featuring new sections
and a streamlined design, we continue to keep you informed
with what is current and relevant in the design community.
May was an incredibly busy month beginning with the
inauguration, by Toronto Mayor David Miller, of the
Festival of Architecture and Design followed by several
special DX led initiatives!
Special thanks to attendees of our National Post Premier
Speaker Series evening with 5 of the best Scandinavian
designers, as well as authors, Raul Cabra and Katherine
Nelson, of the new book Scandinavian Design - additionally,
heating up the conversation, journalist and DX board
member, Kelly Rude.
Digifest events and exhibits across the GTA in support
of emerging new media designers were a smash success
and we appreciate your attendance. Looking for more
virtual fun? Visit the readingtoronto.com
lounge at the DX in the next few weeks.
At the DX, we continue to focus on our mission to educate
Canadians about the value of design. Our Summer Camps
are a great way to teach children about various design
disciplines, as well as provide a fun time downtown!
If you are interested in Summer Camps, make sure you
register NOW, spots are filling fast and the kids (and
the staff!) have a ton of fun.
The EXPRESS facelift continues, coming soon - DX Community
News - showcasing design news from coast to coast. To
become a contributing correspondent contact marketing@dx.org.
On a sad note, renowned Graphic Designer Robert Burns
passed away this month. You may remember that Robert
created the famous Roots logo featuring the signature
Beaver. Robert was a strong supporter of the DX, frequently
stopping by to visit with us and will be greatly missed.
Stay connected with the DX, consider becoming an individual
or corporate member - and give back to the design community.
We need your involvement and your support.
