FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; TORONTO

TIME WILL TELL

Design Exchange launches a series of exhibits exploring design enterprises that recycle materials in distinct ways.

Klockwerks: Shifting Gears, exhibits the work of Roger Wood an artist who meticulously assembles clocks out of myriad pieces, remnants, and parts of objects made obsolete by time. He is a devoted collector of usual and unusual objects with one thing in common, a history.

A machinist's gauge, a projector lamp, a camera lens, a trumpet mouth piece, a perfume bottle cap, a stop from an antique pump organ, a typewriter key, could all be seen as useless items in today’s world, but as part of a clock, they are imbedded with a renewed sense of purpose and presence.

Roger Wood worked as a heavy construction engineer, and years later, studied interior designer at Ryerson University, before embarking as creative lead of the Klockwerks studio, located in Toronto’s Liberty Village.

Klockwerks: Shifting Gears is curated by Paola Poletto, the Senior Director of Programs at the Design Exchange. The exhibit will be on display from December 1- March 2. Admission is free.
