What is Design?

At the DX, we realise that there are numerous definitions of design.  However, we view design as a CATALYST for innovation and change in society.

Design is a strategic planning and development process, transforming abstract ideas into desirable objects, environments and services. Design can harness consumer insights, technological feasibility and business viability.  Design is a blend of art, science and business.  It is the marriage of function and form.  Design is essential to our economy, environment and quality of life.

The value of design stretches across all industries and sectors.  For example, visual communication and graphic design influence experience, architecture attracts tourists, interior design influences productivity, fashion drives personal self-esteem, industrial design produces safe products and landscape design can restore the earth.  And . . . these are only a few examples!

Design brings VALUE to business by reducing costs, improving profitability and increasing brand equity.  Designers turn ideas into reality by being a part of business strategy.  Design Thinking is a skill that encompasses strategy, empathy, visual literacy and lateral thinking.

Every EXPERIENCE, Every PRODUCT and every ENVIRONMENT can be made better by design.
