The Northern Lights
Exhibition July 1 – August 7, 2005
FREE ADMISSION ON CANADA DAY – celebrate the great white north with metalwork and jewellery created in response to our vast and varied landscape. From Vancouver to Corner Brook, professional and student metal smiths, jewellers and designers are participating in The Northern Lights exhibition. The Metal Arts Guild competition was juried by jeweller Donald Stuart, recipient of the Order of Canada; Marion Cameron, design director at Birks; and industrial designer Helen Kerr. Coinciding with the Finnish Design Year 2005, the exhibition also features pieces by Bjorn Weckström. Together, the Canadian and Scandinavian work reveals the link between societies and cultures where nature and the northern environment powerfully shape character and identity.
