Sustainable
Design Competition Exhbit
Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA), in partnership
with the Design Exchange (DX), have created this competition
with the assumption that in the 21st century sustainable
design is no longer a luxury; it has become a necessity.
Along with this assumption is the belief in the innovation
of Canadian designers and their ability to adapt to
the changing needs of contemporary society.
As a part of The Living City initiative, Archetype
for The Living City: Sustainable House Competition
presents a challenge to design teams from across the
country to create a single family house that will
demonstrate the best in sustainable design and technology.
The exhibition will include the submitted posters,
models and information regarding sustainable development.

"momentum" by
Wood WORKS!
The Wood WORKS!
installation entitled "momentum" was
designed to encapsulate the continual growth and
acceptance of wood in design and architecture.
As sustainable design and green design continue
to gain acceptance, wood is posed like never before
to rise to the forefront as a viable, affordable
and appropriate
solution to many design problems. "momentum" refers back to the inherent
simplicity of 'wood' and yet shows that it can be arranged and combined to
create provocative and complex forms with ease.
