PLASTIC is an all-new multidisciplinary exhibit that takes a look at the world of plastic and how it has influenced design professionals, business and consumers. PLASTIC promises a thorough look at the way this material became part of the modern world. In addition to the historical evolution of plastic, the exhibit will celebrate the impact plastic has made on people’s everyday life. The exhibit will present a timeline of major developments in plastic beginning in the pre-1945 era.

The content of the PLASTIC exhibit falls into three key areas – Home, Body and Machine. In each area the exhibit will explore how society has viewed plastic, innovations in plastic processes, and the myths and truths of plastic history. PLASTIC promises to be a comprehensive look at a material that has changed the way people live, eat, dress and travel. Opens to the public Sept.22.
